Catawba County, NC — Registration is now open for the 2026 Catawba County Hunger Walk, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Downtown Newton. The annual event brings together individuals, churches, businesses, and community organizations to support local hunger-relief efforts across Catawba County.
The Hunger Walk is presented by Ashure Ministry, Hickory Soup Kitchen, and The Corner Table, three organizations united by a common mission to provide food, assistance, and hope to those facing hunger and hardship in our community.
Participants may choose between a 5K route and a 1-mile route, making the event accessible to walkers of all ages and abilities.

- 2:00 p.m. – Registration
- 2:45 p.m. – Welcome, Warm-Up & Awards
- 3:00 p.m. – Walk Begins (5K & 1-Mile Options)
- Refreshments Following the Walk

- Largest Team
- Top Team Fundraiser
- Top Individual Fundraiser
- Additional special recognitions
Funds raised through the Hunger Walk are shared equally among the three participating organizations and directly support hunger-relief efforts throughout Catawba County.
Together, Ashure Ministry, Hickory Soup Kitchen, and The Corner Table provide millions of meals, food distributions, and supportive services each year.
“Every step taken at the Hunger Walk helps put food on the table for someone in need,” said event organizers. “This event turns compassion into action by bringing our community together to support families, seniors, children, and individuals who are facing hunger right here in Catawba County.”
Participants are encouraged to begin fundraising as soon as they register. Those who raise at least $25 by August 30, 2026, will receive an exclusive 2026 Hunger Walk Magic T-Shirt, a favorite annual tradition among participants.
