Hickory – On Tuesday, October 24th, the Children’s Advocacy and Protection Center (CAPC) will hold a Vigil in downtown Hickory. It will be under the Sails at noon on that day.
We will be remembering the children in North Carolina who lost their lives at the hands of abuse and neglect during 2016. Teresa Bentley’s art students at Hickory High School are currently painting a t-shirt for each of the 27 children who died. These shirts will be hung up as each name is read. A bell will ring for each child.
The ceremony will include: Karen Harrington – Social Services Director (remarks), Rev. Greg Brown – St. Stephens Lutheran ELCA (prayer), and Peter Corneliussen and Carolina Collins – Original song “Rescue Me” (composed by Peter C). Donald Hicks (2017 Hancock Settlemyre Award winner) will read out each of the names.
