Hickory – The world renown Piedmont Percussion Program is excited to announce their Fall concert on Sunday, November 11, at 3pm at the SALT Block in the Drendel Auditorium under the direction of Rick Cline. This season’s concert will feature exciting percussion music all on a wide variety of percussion instruments. Also featured will be the Lenoir Rhyne University Percussion ensemble, the Pandemic community steel drum band, and Northview band director and local musician David Wortman on saxophone. The free concert will be fun for kids and families.
P3 is a nationally recognized as a highly unique community percussion program with around 50 kids ages 5 to18 from the surrounding area. No other programs for percussion exist like P3 anywhere in the world and Hickory’s support for the arts is the envy of many larger cities. P3 Participants get to learn and perform on a wide variety of percussion instruments from timpani, snare, mallets, drum set, African drums, and so much more. Rehearsals are one hour on Sundays for 13wks at the SALT block. In addition P3 has the Pandemic community steel drum band that performs around the area throughout the year. The concert is open to the public. Doors open at 2:45pm.
