Hickory – From presentations at the local farmers market to a student led workshop on research initiatives and making the perfect pitch, Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship (CCSE) has planned multiple events to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, which concludes Sunday, November 18.
The lineup of events provides area entrepreneurs the chance to network, learn from each other, and advance their business ideas. The week will feature German guest Uwe Kaspers, Ph.D., who will present on dual vocational training and social entrepreneurship projects.
“This year’s event will mark the fifth year of international cooperation between LR and the Lutheran University of Applied Sciences at Nuremberg,” said Ralph Griffith, Ph.D., associate professor of entrepreneurship and director of the CCSE. “We are deeply grateful for this partnership, and the countless hours of time, patience, and perseverance that our advocates put into this annual event.”
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
6pm, Thursday, November 15, LR George Hall, German Visitors and Guest Speakers. The public is invited to learn about entrepreneurship from German guest Uwe Kaspers, Ph.D., who will present on dual vocational training and social entrepreneurship projects.
10am, Friday, November 16, LR Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship in Mauney Hall, CCSE Research Initiatives. Santiago Ambroggio, a senior entrepreneurship major, will present the center’s research initiatives on creativity and entrepreneurship.
8am to 1pm, Saturday, November 17, Downtown Hickory, Innov828 Meets Hickory Farmers Market. Student entrepreneurs of The Center for Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship at LR present their innovations at the local Hickory Farmers Market to sell, receive feedback, and showcase the center’s initiative within the community.
Founded in 2013, LR’s CCSE looks to be the premier source for quality entrepreneurship education in higher education. The CCSE is complimented by two majors housed in the Snipes School of Business, Commercial and Social Entrepreneurship. The CCSE provides opportunities for students to partner with professionals and serves as a resource for organizations in all phases of development.
