Hickory – The plot of the new play I and You, by Lauren Gunderson, centers around two high school students, Caroline and Anthony. They have a joint assignment for school and, because she is homebound with a serious illness he comes over with it. Cassidy Pruitt plays the role of Caroline in the Hickory production, which begins performances on January 11, 2019 in the Firemen’s Kitchen.
Pruitt has been performing at the Theatre since 2005, when she played a sugar cube in Beauty and the Beast. Since then she has had ensemble roles in Gypsy, 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, Legally Blonde and Elf the Musical. In addition to performing in Elf, she also served as Dance Captain. Now she teaches at Sonya’s Dance Academy.
Her other job is as a zip line guide at Beanstalk Zip Lines in Morganton. Caroline is Pruitt’s first leading role at HCT. When asked what she likes most about being at the Hickory Community Theatre she replied, “It’s the amazing family of performers here and the community that surrounds the theatre.”
Performances of I and You are January 11-27, 2019, Fridays and Saturdays (Jan 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26) at 8:00pm, Thursdays (Jan 17 and 24) at 7:30pm and Sundays (Jan 20 and 27) at 2:30pm. Tickets for Thursday night performances are $14 for adults and $10 for students and youth 18 and under. Tickets for Fridays through Sundays are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors (60 and over), and $10 for students and youth 18 and under.
