Hickory – The Hickory Parks and Recreation Department announces registration for Youth Lacrosse. Leagues will be offered for boys and girls ages 5-14 (must be 5 before August 31, 2018 and cannot be 15 before August 31, 2018). Players may register by having a parent come by the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, located at 1451 8th Street Drive NE, between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday 
through Friday.
Any child that has previously participated through our master registration system may call (828) 322-7046 to register or register online at www.hickorync.gov/recreation. Any child that has not participated in a program may register online, and once registration is complete, a parent will need to come by the Parks and Recreation Department Administrative Office and sign a waiver. A birth certificate must be presented at time of registration along with a $40 non-resident fee for persons living outside the city limits of Hickory.
All children participating in lacrosse are encouraged to purchase accident insurance coverage. The $6 insurance fee covers the participant for a one-year period from March 1, 2019 until February 28, 2020 in all activities sponsored and supervised by the Parks and Recreation Department. The $250,000 coverage is primary coverage that pays regardless of other insurance, directly to the participant, doctor, or hospital. The $6 insurance fee must be paid at the time of registration.
A parents and players meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 6, at 6:00 pm at Highland Recreation Center Community Room, located on 1451 8th Street Drive NE. Practices will be held throughout the week at Neill Clark Recreation Park, Samuel William Davis, Sr. Field, Civitan Park, and West Hickory Park from 6pm – 8pm with games on Saturdays and Sundays. The first practice session will be on Monday, February 11. Travel to other towns will be required on Saturdays and Sundays for games.
