Lincolnton, NC – What connection between BINGO, crime prevention, responsible pet ownership, making bird feeders, snail mail tips, Smokey the Bear, a magic show, Lug Nut & NASCAR, and NC’s only US President? These are some of the exciting free arts/crafts, educational, and entertaining programs planned and scheduled weekdays from 11:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. for children (18 years old and younger) attending Boger City United Methodist Church’s 5th Annual Summer Lunch & Enrichment Program, in their Fellowship Hall, located at 2320 East Main Street in Lincolnton. Children and adults accompanying them are encouraged to arrive prior to the time these programs begin. Children and teens (18 years old and younger) are encouraged to stay and to eat a free bag lunch consisting of a sandwich, vegetable, fruit, and chocolate milk regardless of their parents income in the churches Fellowship Hall, from 12:00 NOON to 12:30 P.M.
“Each day, children attending our churches summer lunch meal site receive a book to take home and keep,” emphasized Robert Tomlinson, Site Manager. Over the past 4 years, our church meal site has given away thousands of books to the children. Without months of planning by our church’s volunteers, cooperation from arts/crafts, educational/entertaining community program volunteers, dedicated parents transporting their children, and the active parental involvement with their children attending our churches’ 5th Annual Summer Lunch & Enrichment Program would not have been such as GREAT success. During series of brainstorming sessions planning a hodgepodge of arts/crafts, educational and entertaining programs, our church’s Summer Lunch & Enrichment Program committee takes into account our children ages, grade levels, and other variables to encourage the children and their parents to return and to invite their friends, neighbors, and relatives, “ reiterated Tomlinson.
