Hiddenite, NC – The Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center’s Lucas Mansion is thrilled to feature artwork by Hickory artist Maria Register during the months of July and August, 2023. Creativity has been part of Register’s life for as long as she can remember, from crayons to computers and everywhere in between. Her first love is painting but lately a deep passion of layers, patterns and mark-making has emerged in both her whimsical and realistic mixed media artwork. Her work is inspired by a good dose of humor, a flair for color and a lighter side of life and nature often featuring fun animal characters and colorful botanicals. Register uses her creativity as a way to bring smiles to people’s hearts through paper and paint. Educated at Appalachian State University with a BS in Commercial Design, Register is now a full-time artist with a professional studio in her home where she creates her art and teaches private lessons.
The Hiddenite Center is excited to showcase Register’s collages, mixed media art, and acrylic paintings that are filled with vibrant colors, personality and stories. The Center is holding an artist reception honoring Register and her works on Saturday, July 22 for 1-3 pm at the Hiddenite Center’s Lucas Mansion (316 Hiddenite Church Rd, Hiddenite), where visitors can meet-and-greet the artist, learn more about her works, and enjoy refreshments. Art exhibits at the Hiddenite Center are always free and open to the public. To learn more about artist Maria Register, visit her website at https://mariaregisterart.myportfolio.com/.
