Bronny James has been one of the biggest stories heading into the 2024 NBA Draft that concludes tonight (Thursday).
Bronny, son of LeBron James, declared for this year’s draft after playing one collegiate season for USC. While coming off the bench for the Trojans, James averaged only four points and two assists as a freshman.
Bronny was not expected to be a first round selection on Wednesday when the two-round draft began. But one never knows. Perhaps a franchise will select Bronny earlier than expected in hopes of possibly luring LeBron to leave the Los Angeles Lakers to play with his son.

My question is similar to many other curious minds. How is a guy who averaged just four points a game in college even being considered as a draftee into the NBA?
It is thought that the Lakers will likely choose Bronny with their second round pick (No. 55) and reward LeBron by letting him be on the same team with his son. I would respond to that line of thinking by saying that the Lakers are not a good enough team to basically waste a pick to make the James family happy.
I have to believe Bronny would be better served developing at the college level. We know money is not an issue. Let him learn while becoming the best player on his team. Then the best on the floor for his team and the opposing team. Then how about all-conference. How about All-American?
I just watched a lot of NBA Playoff Basketball. Bronny would not see meaningful playing time for any of the playoff teams. What is the hurry? Oh yeah, LeBron turns 40 this winter. In this case, it is who you know.
