Hickory — Redhawk Publications is pleased to announce the publication of renowned North Carolina poet Tim Peeler, newest release, “Trap Game.” Known for his haunting narratives of Southern life, this collection marks Peeler’s twenty-third publication and showcases his storytelling prowess.

Peeler, a retired director of the Learning Assistance Program at CVCC, has been honing his craft since high school, with his first full-length book published in 1999. “Trap Game” is a departure from his previous works, comprising a trilogy of prose poems that delve into contemporary experiences with a unique Southern point of view. Each narrative is crafted with Peeler’s signature blend of insight and empathy, capturing the essence of characters often overlooked by mainstream literature.

In “Trap Game,” readers will journey through three compelling tales: a young man navigating life in a mill town while working for a former NBA player’s landscape company, a pair of literary scene misfits encountering a transformative night under a full moon in their rural community; and a retired educator grappling with a haunting from his past.

“I wrote these narratives just after retirement and during the pandemic,” Peeler reflects. “They are infused with the uncertainty and introspection that defined those times. Each story explores the complexities of human connections and the resilience found in unexpected places.”

“Trap Game” will resonate with readers who appreciate character-driven stories and poetry illuminating ordinary people’s lives facing extraordinary circumstances. Peeler’s ability to capture the soul of the South through vivid prose and poignant narratives ensures that this collection will captivate both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
