Hickory – Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry (GHCCM) solicited community support for the ministry to purchase a van to fund the expenses. The appeal was successful, and the following sponsors agreed to participate in the project, “Driving for Good”: Paramount Automotive, Corning Optical Communications, Legacy Oral and Facial Surgery, Momentum Tire and Car Care, Sandra and George Clay, and The Print Path.
Owning the van enables GHCCM to transport clients who lack transportation to get to medical, legal and agency appointments; allows small groups to participate in offsite classes and events that provide life enhancing opportunities; host field trips for the Diabetes Support Group such as trips to the grocery or restaurants to offer life experiences to select healthy food options; pick up donated items; and offer transportation as it pertains to the growth of a client towards self-sufficiency such as job interviews or training programs.
Molly Sain, GHCCM Executive Director, reflects, “the ministry is happy that the community supported this important project. Having a transportation van and the funds to maintain it are important to our clients by providing transportation for appointments and new experiences and for day-to-day use. We thank The Print Path and Jackson Creative who helped with the ‘wrap’ design which professionally displays GHCCM, our sponsors and our mission”.
