Newton, NC – The Green Room Community Theatre announces that tickets for Matilda will go on sale to the general public Nov. 1. Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, this enchanting musical is based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl.
In Matilda young Matilda Wormwood uses her remarkable intellect and telekinetic powers to challenge the oppressive adults in her life, including her neglectful parents and the tyrannical headmistress of her school, Miss Trunchbull. This production is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its heartwarming story and catchy tunes.
Matilda is directed by Allison Andrews, with Jessica Cockroft as music director, Jared Wachsmuth as choreographer and Jordan Spears as stage manager. The show is rated PG for thematic elements, some language and exaggerated bullying.
Performances will take place on Nov. 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and Dec. 1. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
