Newton, NC – The Green Room Community Theatre is thrilled to announce the cast of its upcoming production, “The Miss Firecracker Contest,” opening June 13. Written by Beth Henley, this Southern comedy is a heartfelt and hilarious look at small-town dreams, second chances, and what it really means to shine. The production is directed by Sylvia Schnople, with Terry Evans as stage manager. It is being produced by Interstate Foam & Supply.
Set in Yazoo City, Mississippi, the play follows Carnelle Scott, a spirited young woman determined to change her reputation and find a sense of belonging by winning the local Fourth of July beauty pageant. With quirky characters, sharp wit, and touching moments, “The Miss Firecracker Contest” is a celebration of hope, family, and finding your sparkle in unexpected places.
Performances are scheduled for June 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22. Shows on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
