Hickory, NC — Redhawk Publications and Libreria are proud to present a special literary event featuring three distinguished authors whose careers in law and politics have shaped their powerful and compelling writing voices. Taking place on Saturday, June 13th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Libreria in Newton, North Carolina, this discussion will explore the unique connection between literature, law, and storytelling.
This collaborative program brings together Redhawk Publications and Libreria, Newton’s new independent bookstore that is quickly gaining attention within the community as a welcoming “third space” for readers, writers, artists, and creative gatherings. Together, the organizations aim to foster thoughtful conversation and celebrate the role of literature in uniting communities.

Austin Allran — A graduate of Duke University and Southern Methodist University School of Law, Austin is a former state senator, current county commissioner, practicing attorney, and author of the novel The Legend of the Isle of Cats.
Jason Parker — A graduate of North Carolina State University and North Carolina Central University School of Law, Jason is a retired prosecutor and author of the memoir Prosecutor Boy.
John Rhea — A graduate of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina School of Law, John is a former criminal defense attorney and the acclaimed author of the novel Lifer.
