Hickory – It’s the phone call you never want to receive: your mother or father has been in a car accident. Fortunately, your parent was not injured and the car only had minor damage, but what if it happens again? Will Mom have to give up her driver’s license?
Now is the time to have a family meeting with Mom or Dad. Miriam Young, MS, OTR/L, Driver Rehabilitation Specialist from Frye Regional Medical Center will give some tips and to help your family make the right decision.

The February ACAP meeting addresses issues related to parents’ driving and what to do when questions arise. With a master’s degree in occupational therapy, Mrs. Young will help attendees learn to identify signs a parent may need a driving evaluation and/or retiring from driving, understand the driving evaluation process and become aware of community mobility options.
