Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre proudly presents the electrifying production of AIRNESS by Chelsea Marcantel, set to captivate audiences from May 3rd to May 5th, 2024. This comedic and heartfelt exploration of air guitar culture promises an unforgettable theatrical experience that will have audiences laughing, cheering, and air-strumming along.
At the heart of AIRNESS are the dynamic characters Nina and D. Vicious, whose explosive chemistry propels the narrative forward. Nina, portrayed with charm and charisma by Bethany Spears, embodies the essence of air guitar, embracing the freedom and joy it offers. Meanwhile, D. Vicious, a seasoned competitor played with intensity by Alec VanOwen, brings intensity and drive to the stage, driven by a desire to win at all costs.
Their relationship forms the backbone of the plot as they navigate the competitive world of air guitar, each with their own unique motivations and vulnerabilities. As Nina and D. Vicious clash and collaborate, their journey becomes a testament to the power of music, friendship, and self-discovery.
Artistic Director Eric Seale brings Marcantel’s witty and poignant script to life with a talented cast and unique staging that places the audience right in the heart of the air guitar subculture. With its infectious energy and universal themes, AIRNESS promises an evening of laughter, inspiration, and rock ‘n’ roll spirit.
