Hickory – Ann Freeman Dance Academy is pleased to announce two end-of-year recitals at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center on Saturday, May 17, 2025, and will be performed by our AFDA students, staff, and guests.

Our younger students, from preschool to second grade, will perform in the first recital, “Dancing Through The Seasons,” and will also feature performances from our AFDA Performing Company. This recital will begin at 3:00 pm.

Our second recital, “Gaîté Parisienne,” is a lighthearted, colorful ballet celebrating the lively spirit of 19th-century Paris. Set to the music of Jacques Offenbach and arranged by Manuel Rosenthal, it features flirtation, comedy, and high-energy dancing in a bustling Parisian café. Since its 1938 debut by the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, the ballet has charmed audiences with its playful characters and effervescent score. Our older students, ages 10 through our adult classes, and AFDA staff will perform. There will also be a performance by Zoe Charles, Miss Morganton, an alumna of AFDA, and performances by our Performance Company. The recital begins at 7:00 pm.

We invite everyone in the community to come to these free performances to see the hard work our dancers have put in this 2024-25 Dance Season.
