Hickory – Join us on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. to meet Preston Lane, playwright of the musical Beautiful Star, which is being performed at the Hickory Community Theatre. Lane, who is also the Founding Artistic Director for Triad Stage, will share his motivation and inspiration for writing Beautiful Star and his process for writing and getting his plays and adaptations published. The program will also include a special musical sneak peak of Hickory Community Theatre’s production of Beautiful Star and a chance to win a couple of complementary tickets.
Preston Lane is in his 17th season at Triad Stage where he has directed over 50 productions. As an award winning playwright, Lane’s numerous plays and adaptations in collaboration with musician Laurelyn Dossett have been produced at Triad Stage and other theaters and universities, including the US premieres of Inexpressible Island and The Night of the Iguana. Preston has taught at UNCG, NC A&T, UNCSA, Greensboro College, SMU, and the Professional Actors Workshop at the Dallas Theater Center. He is an alumnus of the Drama League of New York’s Director’s Project. A native of Boone, NC, Preston received his BFA from UNCSA and his MFA from the Yale School of Drama.

Beautiful Star will be presented at Hickory Community Theatre’s Jeffers Theatre through December 16, 2018. Tickets for this production are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for youth and students. Thursday performance tickets are available to adults and seniors for $16.
