Newton, NC – Downtown Newton will host a free concert to celebrate the completion of construction on the first phase of the city’s downtown Streetscape Revitalization Project and the opening of the Frank & Sue Jones Amphitheatre.
The Bright Future Concert at the Frank & Sue Jones Amphitheatre will feature TNT Band from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 12. The concert will begin with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the amphitheatre.
TNT Band is one of the most entertaining bands on the regional music scene. They perform covers from the 1980s to the 2000s. Their high energy blend of rock, pop, and alternative music is sure to get the audience on their feet and dancing at this inaugural concert at the new downtown amphitheatre.
Downtown Newton Development Association will offer a beer garden during the concert with a selection of beer available for purchase to those over 21. In addition to a variety of great restaurants in Downtown Newton, food vendors including Blue Moon Tavern, Geppeto’s Pizza and More, Fat Frank’s, Anna’s Sweets, and Pelican Ice will have food and refreshments available for purchase. Free games for the whole family on the courthouse lawn will add to the festivities.
The Frank & Sue Jones Amphitheater is located on the west side of the 1924 Courthouse Square on Main Avenue. The amphitheatre was funded as part of a generous bequest from Sue Jones. Newton’s streetscape revitalization is a citywide effort to build on Newton’s brilliant legacy by planning for a bright future of growth and success not just in Downtown Newton, but throughout the entire community. With the first phase completed along Main Avenue, plans are in the works to begin construction on the second phase of the project, on A Street between Main Avenue and College Avenue, in September.
