Caldwell County, NC – Caldwell JAM, the Junior Appalachian Musicians Program that teaches students to play traditional Appalachian music by ear, is enrolling students aged 8 to 18 for the 2026-27 school year. Enrollment is open now and ends on October 3rd, 2026. JAM is open to all levels of players, from beginner to advanced, who are interested in playing traditional Appalachian instruments.
JAM classes are held weekly for the duration of the school year. Classes will not meet on holidays, early release/dismissal days, or when public school is cancelled due to weather. Students do not need to be enrolled in public school to participate.
Guitar classes will be offered once per week immediately after classes let out at Granite Falls Elementary, Happy Valley School, and Colletsville School.
All Instruments – Mandolin, Fiddle, Guitar, Upright Bass, and Banjo will be offered at The HUB in Hudson. The full schedule of classes can be found on our website: www.caldwellarts.com.
Tuition is $150 for the year, approximately $5 per class! JAM Students who need instruments may rent one from Caldwell Arts for $20. Discounts are available for siblings and for students interested in learning more than one instrument. A limited number of scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis.
