Chimney Rock, NC – A unique collaboration of nonprofits, private organizations and faith-based organizations is bringing hope and healing to families in the Chimney Rock-Lake Lure area this Christmas season. Despite the deadly flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, alongside ongoing restoration efforts, families in the community will be able to experience a celebration that will help restore a sense of normalcy.
Residents throughout the region are invited to Chimney Rock on Saturday, December 14th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a special holiday celebration that will prove the Christmas spirit is thriving and that hope is still alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Activities planned for December 14 include:
Christmas walk through downtown with “Adopt a Shop in Chimney Rock” fundraiser
Visiting Santa to take a photo and receive a toy
Viewing inspirational, post-storm rebuilding projects now well underway
Enjoying live holiday music, cookies, hot cocoa, and much more
“Locals in and around Chimney Rock are telling us that, as the holidays are approaching, most of the relief groups and TV news crews are packing up and moving on,” said CityServe Senior Vice President Todd Lamphere. “But we want them to know that we’re going to do whatever we can to ensure every single child and family in the Chimney Rock region has a great Christmas this year.”
This celebration is made possible through the continued relief efforts of key partners, including 180 Disaster Relief, Spokes of Hope, Paula White Ministries, Public Square, EveryLife, Shein, Jockey, Good360, PMI Foods, 360 Cookware, and World Vision.
CityServe, its partner organizations, and an army of volunteers have been responding to hurricane damage in North Carolina since the week the storms hit by providing:
Helicopter support to assist with rescue operations and the transportation of supplies to isolated mountaintops. Helicopters were provided by Love & Life Foundation and piloted by four former Navy SEALs with extensive experience in emergency rescue operations.
Mobile kitchen support providing 6,000 meals a day through a partnership with Just the Crumbs Ministry.
Distribution and installation of 300 Starlink portables donated by SpaceX for internet access
Chainsaw teams to clear streets and remove debris
Laundry unit cleaning and drying clothes
Dozens of truckloads with millions of dollars of emergency relief supplies to the hardest hit regions.
