Valdese, NC- Valdese to host weekend events in celebration of the Holiday Season.

The public is invited to join the Town of Valdese in their celebration of the Holidays with the Christmas in Valdese event on Thursday, December 13th at 6pm on the Old Rock School front steps. This event includes the Town of Valdese tree lighting ceremony, special presentation of Christmas Carols by Valdese Elementary School students, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus along with free hot chocolate and candy canes provided by Old World Baking Company. “You do not want to miss the Christmas in Valdese event! Every year when the students from Valdese Elementary School line the front steps of the Old Rock School, it sets the perfect tone for the Holiday Season,” states Morrissa Angi Community Affairs Director for the Town of Valdese. “School students have lined up on the front steps of the Old Rock School since the school opened its doors in 1922 and we are excited to continue this special tradition for the Christmas Season,” Angi continues.

Following the event on Thursday night, the Town of Valdese Fire Department in partnership with the Community Affairs Department will host the Mingle with Kris Kringle event. The event will be held at the Old Rock School on Saturday, December 15. Registrants will have a pancake breakfast with Kris Kringle during one of the three sessions being offered: 8:30am, 9:30am, & 10:30am. Children will enjoy visits with Kris Kringle, face painting, visit with Sparky and a special treat bag along with their breakfast. Cost is $2 per person. The Valdese Merchants Association Shop Hop will be held in Downtown Valdese on the morning of the Mingle with Kris Kringle event from 10am-12pm. Prizes for adults and children will be awarded including toys, money, and bicycles. Participants must visit each merchant on the Shop Hop form to be entered for the special prizes. Forms will be available in the Old Rock School Waldensian Room and winners will be drawn at the same location at 12pm. You must be present to win.
