City Of Hickory Adds Downtown Parking As City Walk Bridge Construction Continues

Hickory – City Walk contractors will continue construction work on the iconic N.C. 127 pedestrian bridge this weekend. N.C. 127 will be closed between First Avenue SE and First Avenue NE from 6 p.m. on Friday, August 21, through 6 a.m. on Monday, August 24. Detour routes will be established and clearly marked.

Downtown Parking Update
For the convenience of Downtown Hickory visitors, the City of Hickory has converted the public parking lot along Government Avenue SW to the west of the Olde Hickory Station to a combination of 3-hour restricted and leased parking. The lot has been resurfaced and restriped to provide 29 3-hour restricted parking spaces, 15 leased spaces, and two handicap spaces. This change allows for more efficient turnover of parking spaces in the vicinity of Union Square.

To assist downtown visitors with locating available parking, the City of Hickory has posted a Downtown Hickory public parking map at www.hickorync.gov/downtown and intends to update this page and the public weekly throughout City Walk construction.
