Hickory – In observance of the Christmas holiday, City of Hickory offices will be closed Thursday, December 24, through Monday, December 28. Offices will re-open on Tuesday, December 29, at 8:30 a.m.
City offices will also be closed in observance of New Year’s Day on Friday, January 1, and will re-open on Monday, January 4, at 8:30 a.m.
Other city department closings and/or schedule changes:
Solid Waste Department
The Solid Waste Department, and its services, will operate on a normal schedule on Thursday, December 24. All solid waste collection services, including garbage and recycling pickup, will be suspended on Friday, December 25, for Christmas Day. Due to this closing, Friday’s collection routes will run on Saturday, December 26.
Hickory Public Library
Hickory Public Library, the Patrick Beaver Memorial main facility and the Ridgeview Branch, will be closed Thursday, December 24, through Monday, December 28, as well as on Friday, January 1.
Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department
Highland Recreation Center and the Administrative Offices will be closed Thursday, December 24, through Monday, December 28, for the Christmas holiday. Highland Recreation Center will close early at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, and remain closed on Friday, January 1, for New Year’s Day.
Operating in conjunction with the Hickory Public Schools calendar for virtual learning, Brown Penn Recreation Center will be closed starting Monday, December 21, and will re-open Tuesday, January 5.
All other recreation centers continue to be closed to the public. Parks are open 365 days a year.
