Hickory – Get ready to roll up your sleeves, Hickory! On Saturday, October 11, at Bakers Mountain Park from 9–11:30 AM, we’re partnering with Outdoor NC, Catawba County Parks, Keep Catawba County Beautiful, and Catawba County Library System—for a clean-up day that gives back to the trails, trees, and overlooks we all love.
We’ll provide the gloves and grabbers—just bring your helping hands (and maybe a friend or two who doesn’t mind a little dirt).
This clean up will focus on an old 1950s dump site within Bakers Mountain Park that isn’t yet open to the public (we’ll be accessing it via a service road)—helping prepare the area for future trail development! Additional projects include clearing litter along Bakers Mountain Road and sprucing up the park’s white vinyl fence.
Bonus perks: Cranford Hospitality and Main Chick Jammin’ Biscuits will be serving up breakfast biscuits (first come, first serve). Plus, the first 5 people to name one of the Leave No Trace principles to a Visit Hickory staff member will score a reusable ENO bag, courtesy of Outdoor NC.
Please meet at the Main parking area near the trailhead at Bakers Mountain Park located at 6680 Bakers Mountain Rd, Hickory, NC 28602.
