Hickory – Catawba Valley Community College is accepting registrations for the fall EMT Credential Course beginning September 6.
A prerequisite for a paramedic certification, the EMT course is approximately 216 hours in length, and includes classroom, skills development, and clinical components. The clinical portion involves responding to emergency calls with one of the local county EMS providers.
The course is taught in a hybrid format online and seated in the classroom and lab with some Saturdays and ends December 13.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the NC OEMS credentialing examination for EMT. Students are required to submit a certified criminal background check to the clinical EMS affiliate when instructed by said affiliate.
Tuition for the course is $180, plus additional supplies, including tuition liability and accident insurance, lab fees, textbook, workbook and CPR card totaling approximately $300. Students with a fire, rescue or EMS affiliation are eligible for fee waiver with appropriate documentation.
