Hickory – On Friday, October 26, Union Square will be teeming with super heroes, princesses, fairy tale folks, monsters and creatures from other worlds as HDDA presents the annual Candy Crawl. Costumed children aged 12 and younger are invited to come Downtown for a safe trick or treating experience. The Candy Crawl is from 4pm to 5pm. Downtown businesses will give away treats. The Hickory Museum of Art will be on the Square with pumpkins provided by sponsors for children to decorate.
The Candy Crawl Costume Contest begins at 5:15pm under the Sails. Parents can register their children at the HDDA booth located near the Sails between 3:45 and 4:45pm. Three categories of costumes will be judged by the Hickory Community Theatre Guild: Ages 0-6, Ages 7-12, and Families. Winners in each category will receive tickets for a family of four to see the Hickory Community Theatre’s production of “Beautiful Star”. Doug Stewart, HDDA’s executive director will emcee the contest.
The Hickory Downtown Development Association hosts the Downtown Hickory Candy Crawl to promote safe trick-or-treating in downtown Hickory.
