Hickory – Full Circle Arts is inviting artists to enter their work in its Spring Competition. The purpose of Spring Competition is to give area artists a means to show art in a variety of visual media. There is no specific theme: all ideas are welcome.
Entries will be juried for acceptance and judged for prizes. The judge and juror for this show is the husband and wife team of Nancy and Art Cozart.
Nancy Cozart has always had an artistic bent. It runs in the family. She trained as a commercial artist but spent 30 years as an instructional assistant in Charlotte, where she was very actively involved with children and their artwork. In her own work she has concentrated on photography but also often creates paintings from her own photographs, mostly realistic wildlife portraiture.
Art Cozart is known as “The Cup Guy” because for about 22 years he has been drawing portraits on Styrofoam coffee cups. His work was exhibited in the Mint Museum in Charlotte in 2010 and 2011. Currently there is a display of his cups in the Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy and in the Brevard Station Museum in his hometown of Stanley.
Full Circle Arts is offering $600 in prizes.
