Hickory – Full Circle Arts of Hickory would like to invite the public and all who would like to see some outstanding artwork in Hickory in many different mediums to its annual Fall Competition/Exhibition. There is no theme for this show at our gallery so the work submitted is of various subject matter. We will be presenting $600 in prize money for the top three works of art selected by our distinguished judge. There will also be several Honorable Mention ribbons awarded.
Judging and jurying for the competition this year will be Eddie Kent Tallent, nature watercolor artist and teacher from Lenoir. Eddie also works in oils, pastels and graphite. He earned his BFA with honors in fine arts/painting from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Fl. He served as Assistant Dean of student affairs at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and most recently as Assistant Dean and Executive Director of Admissions at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia where he was instrumental in assisting Mason’s School of Art gain accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and served on the advisory boards for the university’s Honors College and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
Support for this year’s Fall Competition comes from our generous supporters and patrons of the arts Carl and Sharon Cline of Resource Partners, LLC, and from David Weisgerber, MD PA.
We are looking forward to hosting a wonderful reception for the artists and public on Thursday evening October 18, from 6-8pm. Please join us for a stimulating evening with amazing eye candy in the form of fascinating works of art, for sale at reasonable prices. We hope to see many of our old patrons and quite a few new ones joining us on Thursday evening.
