Hickory – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Visiting Writers Series and the Footcandle Film Society will host a film screening of For the Bible Tells Me So at the Carolina Theater in downtown Hickory, Feb. 6, at 7pm.

For the Bible Tells Me So is a 2007 American documentary about homosexuality and its perceived conflict with Christianity. The film includes interview segments with five Christian families, including those of former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson, regarding their personal experiences raising homosexual children.

Informed by such respected voices as Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg, and Reverend Jimmy Creech, For the Bible Tells Me So offers healing, clarity, and understanding to anyone caught in the crosshairs of scripture and sexual identity.

The screening is free for Footcandle members, LRU students, faculty and staff. Tickets for the general public are $5.
