Hickory – Unique World Gifts, a local fair trade nonprofit, invites the public to an evening to celebrate local entrepreneurship and the global fair trade market at their upcoming “Food Truck and Fair 
Trade Friday Night” on October 12.
On Friday, October 12, three food trucks will sell food and beverages from 5-8pm at the nonprofit’s location on Highway 127 North. The nonprofit shop will be open extended hours that evening to allow members of the public to shop for fair trade gifts and products. At the time of publication, the three food trucks that will be present on October 12 are as follows: Egg Roll-in, Pho N Rolls, and Granny’s Old Fashioned Donuts.
The event is organized by the nonprofit’s Board of Directors and the brainstorm of Lenoir-Rhyne University business capstone students who served as consultants for the nonprofit shop this past spring.
Unique World Gifts is Hickory’s only fair trade shop and is also a registered nonprofit. The organization’s mission is to sell products from the developing world that were created by artisans who were paid a fair wage and had safe working conditions. October is “Fair Trade Month”.
