Hickory – Please join us for two training sessions at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on Wednesday February 20th, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. VayaHealth’s Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team will present the first session at 10:00 a.m., which is PTSD: Invisible Scars. Team members will present relevant information pertinent to traumatic events and experiences. Through classroom conversation and exercises, participants learn ways to support individuals who may have experienced a traumatic event which may lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Resiliency methods will be employed as methods to treat and heal the invisible scars.
The second session at 11:00 a.m. is “Commonly Misused Medications: Understanding Medication Effects on the Aging Brain.” This evidence-informed presentation identifies commonly misused medications among older adults. Participants also review risk factors, physiological differences related to aging and treatments and interventions.
Contact hours for students, caregivers and professionals will be available on the day of the training.
This training from VayaHealth is open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. Participants will meet in the upstairs conference room.
