Hickory – The Henry River Preservation Fund (HRPF) is putting winter in the rear view and kicking off spring by holding its first public event of 2018: Mill Vill Fest. This event will take place at the Henry River Mill Village on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 12pm – 4pm, and admission is free to the public.
Mill Vill Fest is a fundraising event on behalf of the HRPF, which is a 501(c)3 charitable organization focused on the preservation of the Historic Henry River Mill District. The event will help fund the HRPF’s efforts to restore mill house #16 as an on-site museum focused on the robust history of the Henry River Mill District for future visitors.
The CVCC Foundation and Red Hawk Publishing will also be sponsoring a book signing during Mill Vill Fest for their upcoming release: “We See What We Want to See: The Henry River Mill Village” by Clayton Joe Young, Tim Peeler, and Kelly Carroll. This is the newest publication highlighting the history and inspiration that resonates in visitors to the Village. Guests of the event will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of the publication, as well as speak with the author s about their Henry River experiences.
In addition to the book signing from the CVCC Foundation/RedHawk Publishing, patrons of Mill Vill Fest 2018 will enjoy live music from the Sigmon Stringers and the Possum Hollar Old-Time String Band, lawn games, a food truck court, and beer & wine options.
The HRPF will also be sponsoring a Silent Auction, 50/50 Charity Raffle, behind the scene tours that take guests through an environment Frozen In Time, and a Story Tellers Session that will have 12 former residents of Henry River sharing stories of growing up in The Village.
