Hickory – Join us at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library as we learn about good mental health. Mental health is essential to people’s health and well-being, and most mental illnesses are common and treatable. These free trainings from the VayaHealth Geriatric and Adult Mental Health Specialty Team will help us understand mental health and mental illnesses. The team will present two training sessions on July 17th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
The first session, “A Rainbow of Mental Health: An Introduction,” will be at 10:00 a.m. This training is an introductory course designed to support an understanding of the most commonly diagnosed mental health related conditions in the aged population. This evidence-informed curriculum takes a person-centered approach to understanding classifications and care delivery.
The second session, “Overcoming Communication Barriers with Mental Health,” will be at 11:00 a.m. This evidence-informed class explains common communication problems and how caregivers can help make communication easier. This course gives specific examples that caregivers can use, as well as those to avoid.
Contact hours for participants will be available on the day of the training.
This free training from VayaHealth is open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. Participants will meet in the upstairs conference room. You may register online at http://hickorync.gov/content/library, click on Library Events and choose “A Rainbow of Mental Health: An Introduction” for the 10:00 a.m. session and “Overcoming Communication Barriers with Mental Health” for 11:00 a.m. to reserve your seat.
