Hickory – Huge crowds came out to attend the opening performances of Dreamgirls, the exciting R&B musical, at the Hickory Community Theatre last weekend. The show opens the second week of the run this Thursday, September 13 at 7:30pm.
This powerhouse musical pulls back the curtain on how to make it big in the music business. Effie White and her best friends Deena and Lorell are a girl group on the advent of a new sound in music, Rhythm and Blues. When they sign with a manager and success comes knocking at their door, sacrifices have to be made to turn up the volume on their careers. When the cost of success is friendship, Deena begins to wonder if it’s a price worth paying.
Performances of Dreamgirls are on Fridays and Saturdays (Sep 14, 15, 21 & 22) at 8:00pm, Thursdays (Sep 13 & 20) at 7:30pm and Sundays (Sep 16 & 23) at 2:30pm.
Tickets for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $10 for students and youth 18 & under. Thursday night tickets for adults and seniors are $16, students and children are $10.
