Hickory Native Serves Aboard USS Essex

Millington, TN – A Hickory, North Carolina, native is serving aboard USS Essex, a U.S. Navy Wasp class amphibious assault ship.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Annalissa McHenry is a 2017 Saint Stephens High School graduate. Today, McHenry serves as a Navy information systems technician.

“As an information systems technician in the civilian world, we are responsible for the operation, programming and configuration of many pieces of electronics, hardware and software,” said McHenry. “Information systems technicians often are also tasked to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve end-user problems.”

McHenry joined the Navy four years ago for the opportunities serving provides.
