Hickory – Hickory Music Factory’s annual “Swingin’ Under the Stars” will be held in Downtown Hickory at the “Sails on the Square” on Sunday, May 29th from 6:30-9:30pm. This FREE outdoor event features the Hickory Jazz Orchestra under the leadership of founder Rick Cline. The big band will perform classic 1940s era big band arrangements from the great American songbook.
Hickory Music Factory’s “Swingin’ Under the Stars” was the 2009 winner of the “Best Outdoor Event for NC”.
In addition, the Hickory Music Factory will pay tribute throughout the evening to several members of the community for their years of dedication and musical contributions. Past tributes have included John Gordon Ross, Geneva Byrd, Bob Taylor, Harris Brothers, Pop Ferguson, Sally Ross, Randy Ingold, Nathan Hefner, Bill Graham, Dave Walker, Bob Sinclair, and Byron Bean, to name a few. This year’s tributes include Ted Neely, Jim Dellinger and Jane Perry. So put on your dancing shoes or bring a chair and relax and enjoy the show! Come at 6pm for the opening prayer and memorial service for our armed forces led by our city mayor Hank Guess.
This event is supported by a grant from the United Arts Council of Catawba County, the City of Hickory, and various Hickory Music Factory donors. For more information or how you can support the Hickory Music Factory, please contact 828-308-5659 or visit their website: www.hickorymusicfactory.com
