Hickory & Newton, NC – Humane Society of Catawba County is proud to extend our heartworm test special through the month of May. As the weather warms up outside the chances of dogs being infected by mosquitoes carrying heartworm disease also increases.
The easiest way to prevent heartworms is to give your dog a monthly heartworm preventative. HSCC offers heartworm preventatives to the public at both shelters. All dogs, even those who are on monthly preventatives, should be tested annually for heartworms.
This simple blood test is available to the public during our vaccine clinics or during a pet’s spay/neuter surgery.
