Hickory – The pint sized, pinstriped classic, BUGSY MALONE is coming up for a three-weekend run at the Hickory Community Theatre. As the musical opens, Bugsy Malone, a one-time boxer who’s neither completely honest nor completely crooked, ushers us through his neighborhood. Bugsy winds up at the local speakeasy owned by gangster boss, Fat Sam, which launches the show’s first big song and dance number, “Fat Sam’s Grand Slam”. In the HCT production, Fat Sam’s gang is made up of six very talented young actors.
Besides Fat Sam, played by Braiden Bell, there are his five bumbling, funny, not very threatening hoodlums. They are Ritzy (Mikayla Lenahan), Angelo (Watts Rogers), Louis (Mollie Johns), Babyface (Mallory Rhoney), and Knuckles (Aubrey Curnutte). These characters sing with gusto provide a great deal of physical comedy.
Performances of BUGSY MALONE will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, December 3-18 at 7:30 pm; Sunday, December 12 at 2:30 pm and Thursday, December 15 at 7:30 pm.
