Hickory – The Hickory Community Theatre has just announced that this is the final weekend of performances for the electrifying play AIRNESS by Chelsea Marcantel. Don’t miss your chance to experience this funny, high-energy, heartfelt production from Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18.

AIRNESS takes audiences into the world of competitive air guitar, blending comedy, drama, and music in a unique and captivating way. The play follows Nina, a newcomer to the air guitar scene, as she learns that it’s more than just pretending to play an instrument—it’s about finding your true self and rocking out with abandon.

“We are incredibly proud of this production and the vibrant, talented cast that brings such an energetic and inspiring story to life,” said Eric Seale, the HCT Artistic Director, who staged this production. “AIRNESS is not just about the competition; it’s about community, passion, and the joy of self-expression. We invite everyone to join us for a night of laughter, music, and heart.”

The final performances of AIRNESS are Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18 at 7:30pm in the Firemen’s Kitchen. Tickets are $16 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at hickorytheatre.org or by phone at 828-328-2283.

AIRNESS is rated R, because of strong adult language and situations.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th anniversary season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Green Park Dentistry, Paramount Automotive and Sunbelt Xpress. The Hickory Community Theatre is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. The Theatre also receives organizational support funding from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
