The new star, built by Carpenter Decorating, has been mounted on a new tower and two Norway Spruce Christmas trees were donated by Jack Hicks, of Hicks Trucking of Elk Park, NC and planted. The Manger scene has been painted by Boy Scout Troop #275. A Community Choir, lead by Donna Reid, comprised of members from five community churches will perform. The Pathfinders, a mixed Southern Gospel trio from Mt. Holly, NC, will also perform. With the primary goal to sing as a church quartet, the Pathfinders, founded in 1993, realized that God had bigger plans and they began traveling throughout the Southeast and expanded their ministry. Throughout the years, The Pathfinders have had multiple single releases. This included several Top 80 songs on the Singing News charts and a single from their latest CD, “Mercy Answered” being named as one of the top 10 new releases. In addition, they have had several Top 40 songs on other industry charts.
Two different keepsake ornaments will be for sale the night of the event. One ornament was originally constructed by Latt Moretz out of pieces of the old Bethlehem Star and the second is wooden star ornament designed by Dennis Parlier. Both ornaments are pictured on the Bethlehem Star Lighting Event Facebook page. The Mt. Pisgah Youth and members will coordinate a hot dog meal, with a suggested donation of $5. Proceeds from a hot dog meal and sale of the keepsake ornaments will be donated to Bethlehem Ministerial Association Benevolence Fund.
