Hickory – Turn on your radios and devices on Sunday night January 29 at 8 pm to WLON. ON the Jazz Track (formerly known as Jazz Trackin”) will be celebrating their 44th anniversary on the air. The show originated January 28, 1979 on WNNC, but moved to WLON in December of 2022.
Mike Sherrill produces and hosts ON the Jazz Track which plays a mixed bag of all styles of jazz. Sherrill says this has worked well over the years by giving listeners a wide range to listen to. The show has listeners as far away as California (for those listening on the internet). This year’s anniversary will feature some of the most requested jazz from the past 44 years including such stars as: Louie Bellson, Glenn Miller, Carly Simon, Buddy Rich and many more. ON the Jazz Track will air Sunday night 8-11 pm on 1050 AM, 107.5 FM, and 1050wlon.com. The show is thought to be one of longest running shows (if not the longest running weekly jazz show) on commercial radio.
