Hickory – Local response efforts are underway to assist North Carolinians in need as a result of Hurricane Helene.

We are in need of volunteers to assist at donation collection sites. Contact [email protected] and someone will contact you as soon as possible.
SUPPLY DONATIONS
If you want to donate supplies, here’s what is needed – please do not bring any other types of supplies:
Water; Non-perishable food, the lighter the better (such as beef jerky, granola bars, etc.); Child and adult diapers; Wet wipes; Baby formula; Baby food; First aid supplies; Plastic cutlery, cups, plates; Matches; Tarps; Garbage bags
WHERE TO TAKE LARGE LOADS OF SUPPLIES
Please do not bring large loads to posted donation locations. Contact Catawba County United Way to coordinate the location of your delivery at 828-327-6851.

• We will have this staffed with either myself or another LR Athletics staff member.
• We will also be collecting donations at our home athletic events this week:
o Women’s Soccer – Wednesday, 5:00 p.m. at the LR Soccer Field
o Volleyball – Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at Shuford Arena
o Men’s Soccer – Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. at the LR Soccer Field

Crisis Cleanup Hotline for need and to sign up to help clean & repair. Please contact (844) 965-1386 (crisiscleanup.org) – If you need help with cleaning up damage from the hurricane – call this number for assistance. You will be connected to volunteers for local relief efforts, organizations, community groups and faith communities who can assist you. All services are free, but not guaranteed.
AVOID SCAMS
There often are many rumors and scams after a disaster. Do your part to the stop the spread of rumors by doing three easy things:
Find trusted sources of information.
Share information from trusted sources.
Discourage others from sharing information from unverified sources.
*Beware of contractors or roofing representatives going door-to-door after a disaster. Call your insurance agent or insurance company before signing a contract or paying for repairs.
