Hickory – Lenoir-Rhyne University will continue its 2018-19 Playmakers season with a student showcase with a festival of plays. The productions will be performed Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7:30pm, and Sunday, Dec. 2, at 2:30pm.
All performances will take place in Belk Centrum Theatre. The event will feature 10-minute plays directed by students enrolled in Theatre 450: Directing I, as well as staged readings of plays written by students enrolled in Theatre 270: Scriptwriting.
Every performance features a different lineup. Due to mature content, it is rated PG-13. The directors are Callie Cope, Chase Fowler, Brianna Miller, Ariona Smith, Corey Smith, and Taylor Thomas. The playwrights are Callie Cope, Dakota Duncan, Chase Fowler, Cassidy Hamill, Mikayla Martin, Corey Smith, Skylar Smith, and Jacora Wright. Admission is free, but tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets are available at the door or can be picked up at the LR Box office in P.E. Monroe Auditorium. Box office hours are 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday.

LR’s Playmakers stimulate interest in the dramatic arts and provide a theater experience for the community. They are also considered the official producing body for the LR theater program.
