Hickory – Lenoir-Rhyne University, in partnership with Western Piedmont Council of Governments, will host a documentary film screening and speaker panel on home elder care, Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6-8pm in P.E. Monroe Auditorium.
The documentary titled, A Captivating Look at Home Care in the U.S.A, delves deep into the world of home elder care through the eyes of both paid caregivers and their elderly clients. The film raises critical questions about the future of caregiving for an aging population and invites dialogue and engagement.
A panel discussion will follow the documentary screening, where speakers will provide information and insight related to the issue of home health care for the elderly.
Elaine Harwood, DNP, assistant professor of nursing at LR, will present during the panel. Harwood joined the faculty this summer as the University welcomed its inaugural class of students and professors to the Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. Other speakers during the panel discussion include Ted Goins Jr., Lutheran Services Carolina president and chief executive officer, and Buddy Weathers, managing director at BRW Resources LLC.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Visit lr.edu/publicevents to learn more.
