Hickory – Registration has begun for a jewelry making class for adults at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library. The same class will be offered first at 9:00 a.m. and then again at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Please sign up for only one of the classes offered on that day.
During the class, participants will learn how to use hammers to texture lightweight, non-reactive aluminum into a fabulous wrap ring. Tools and materials are included. No experience necessary.
The instructor is Ellen Ball, a Hickory native. Since 2007, she has created jewelry in a variety of metals, drawing inspiration and techniques from nature, favorite artists, books, magazines, online sources, and other craftspeople. Ms. Ball sells in galleries across the state, and teaches classes throughout the region. She is a member of North Carolina Artist-Blacksmith Association of North America, Handmade in America, and American Craft Council.
The class is free, but pre-registration is required. Class sizes are limited and people should only register for either the 9:00 a.m. class or the 1:00 p.m. class.
