Hickory – The local area Marine Corps League has been serving retired Marines and other veterans for over 15 years. The League supports local endeavors such as Toys for Tots, Boys and Girls State, Eagle Scouts and Veterans Helping Veterans among others. The ladies associated with these fine servicemen have also banded together as the Marine Corps League Auxiliary. This group is made up of women that are wives, sisters, mothers, daughters, and in-laws that in turn strive to serve their Marine Corps League members. The Auxiliary also welcomes any female not related to a Marine to join as an associate member.
These local Auxiliary members and associates have formed a group here in Catawba County. They are known as the Foothills Unit #523. They are accepting new members from all surrounding counties: Catawba, Burke, Caldwell, Lincoln and Alexander. To help facilitate more assistance to the local League and communities, they will be holding a Meet & Greet. They will share information and answer any questions to those who may be interested in joining the Auxiliary.
This event will be held at Granny’s Kitchen at 2145 N. Center Street, Hickory on Saturday, August 28th from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
If you have any Marines in your family or would just like to show you support, please stop by Granny’s Kitchen on August 28th to meet these Auxiliary ladies and see how much they care about our local Marines, veterans and our communities.
