Masterworks Elemental Music Performed By WPS, Oct. 18

Hickory – Western Piedmont Symphony (WPS), the professional orchestra of the western foothills of North Carolina, presents MASTERWORKS: ELEMENTAL MUSIC on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at P.E. Monroe Auditorium. This thrilling Masterworks concert explores the power, mystery, and beauty of the natural world, offering audiences a vivid sonic journey from creation to celebration.

Join Music Director Matthew Troy and the Western Piedmont Symphony as the evening opens with a chilling flourish in Waxman’s The Bride of Frankenstein: “The Creation of the Female Monster,” bringing cinematic horror to the concert hall, perfect for the month of October. The program then moves through Copland’s Suite from The Tender Land, capturing the lyrical beauty of the American landscape, and culminates with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, “Pastorale,” a masterpiece celebrating humanity’s connection to nature.

MASTERWORKS tickets are $20–$58 for adults. Student tickets are $10 with a valid ID. Students can purchase $10 tickets in sections A and B only when accompanied by an adult who also buys a ticket in the same section.
