Hickory – There are more than a couple of romantic subplots in Noises Off!, the upcoming comedy production from the Hickory Community Theatre. One of these involves a secret crush one actor has on another.

Noises Off! is a play about a group of actors working struggling to put on their own production of a comic farce called “Nothing On.” Two of these actors, Belinda and Freddy play a husband and wife on stage, but backstage Belinda is nursing her own crush on her handsome co-star. In the HCT production Belinda is played by Tiffany Christian and Freddy is played by Jordan Randall.

This is not the first time the pair have worked together, though it is the first time they’ve been actors in the same show. In their previous collaboration Randall was playing Walter Younger, Jr. in A Raisin in the Sun, a production directed by Christian.

Christian’s other HCT directing credits include Dreamgirls and I & You. Her last outing as an actor was in The Revolutionists in the Firemen’s Kitchen in November 2019.

Randall’s first role at HCT was as Gandalf in The Hobbit, which he followed up by playing Booker T. Washington in Ragtime.

Performances of Noises Off! are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (Feb 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20) at 7:30pm, and Sundays (Feb 14 and 21) at 2:30pm.

This production will be broadcast live online. Tickets are $10 for a single viewer and $18 for a household. Tickets for the general public are available through the theatre’s website at hickorytheatre.org. It is hoped that state restrictions will be relaxed to allow live audiences before the play opens. That announcement will be made as soon as information becomes available.
