Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) The origin story of the female character portrayed by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, and now portrayed by Anya Taylor Joy, makes its disc debut on Blu-Ray and 4K with a few new extras.
Criterion:
The Last Emperor (1987) Bernardo Bertolucci’s Best Picture Oscar winner comes to the 4K format for the first time ever in this deluxe new edition. Bonus materials include commentaries, documentaries and a booklet.
Brief Encounters/The Long Farewell: Two Films by Kira Muratova (1967-71) Two of the Ukranian filmmaker’s works are bundled together in this new Blu-Ray release. Extras include interviews.
Warner Archive:
Marie: A True Story (1985) Sissy Spacek stars as the title character in this fact-based tale of a single mom from Tennessee who blew the whistle on corruption in the prison system. Roger Donaldson (No Way Out) directs. Extras include the film’s trailer.
The two beloved animated feature films, Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost/Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders (1999-2000), have been issued on one Blu-Ray disc by the label.
Also being issued by the label on Blu-Ray this week are The Stars Fell on Henrietta (1995), Northwest Passage (1940), Idiot’s Delight (1939), the Elvis Presley vehicle, Harum Scarum (1965) and War of the Buttons (1994).
Kino:
Navajo Joe (1967) stars Burt Reynolds as a revenge seeking Native American who decides to help a small town from becoming victims of a gang of bank robbers. Extras on the Blu-Ray release include a commentary.
Also being issued this week are new 4K releases of the Jean Pierre Melville crime thrillers, Bob le flambeur (1967) and Le Doulos (1963). Both contain new commentaries.
Scream/Shout Factory:
Observe and Report (2009) Seth Rogen is a mall cop with mental problems in this dark comedy that has it fans. The new special edition Blu-Ray release also includes a few new extras.
88 Films:
Previously released only in a box set, In the Line of Duty III (1988) and In the Line of Duty IV (1989) have been issued separately on Blu-Ray for the first time. In the former, Michelle Yeoh takes on jewelry thieves, while in the latter, she is paired with Donnie Yen as they tackle drug traffickers. Extras include commentaries and interviews.
